Requirement: Develop a Strategic Plan for managing a major bank’s network.

The objective of the project was to develop an approach to a unified network/systems management solution that would embrace Open Standards technology, mainframe technology, and proprietary and unmanaged domains. An operational model was developed to provide a context for strategic and product purchase decisions that would satisfy the diverse needs of the worldwide network of more than 2000 locations.

Issues addressed included:
  • Management of new router backbone (200 routers)
  • Remote site support
  • Combined SNA and SNMP management
  • Software Distribution
  • Systems Management
  • Vendor evaluation criteria

Requirement: Create a Marketing Plan for a new line of servers.

Assisted Director of Marketing in start up of strategic effort to introduce MIPS Risc platform supporting the Microsoft NT operating system. Activities included:
  • Working with sales team to identify early-adopter opportunities.
  • Identifying strategic software products and negotiating porting of those products (both desktop and server) to the platform.
